Throughout its
25 year history, the Preservation
Trust has developed a a variety of grant programs and formed
partnerships with foundations and businesses to provide financial
support for local historic preservation projects. Since
1994, the Preservation Trust has had a partnership with the
Freeman Foundation to support local preservation projects.
So far, the Foundation has provided over $8.8 million in support
which has played a key part in over $94 million in rehabilitation
activity in over 350 projects located throughout the state.
Preservation Grants are currently available
to non-profit organizations for rehabilitating historic buildings
in the Northeast Kingdom. This grant program has helped local groups save and use a variety of
special places, from the Haskell Opera House in Derby Line to the
Vermont Arts Exchange in North Bennington.
Libraries, art
spaces, museums, educational facilities, community meeting places,
affordable housing, and churches all benefited. To see a
list of the most recent Preservation Grant recipients, see our Annual
