In addition to the exhibition, there will also be music throughout the afternoon, a booksigning, a quest specifically created for this event, food vendors and speakers

The event is open to the public and free of charge. Bring a neighbor, bring a friend, bring the family.  1PM-5PM at the Breeding Barn at Shelburne Farms. For more information call 802-658-6647 or contact meg@ptvermont.org.

"We've been very fortunate to have been able to support hundreds of community preservation and revitalization efforts throughout our 25 year history.  Donors have been extremely generous and have made our work possible.  But most importantly, this work couldn't be done without people at the community level who have the passion and commitment to save and use great old buildings.  This is really a celebration of an enormous volume of preservation work that has been done by volunteers and community-based organizations." Paul Bruhn, Executive Director of Preservation Trust of Vermont.

Booksigning: 1-5 P.M.
As part of Preservation Trust’s 25th Celebration Peter Miller has produced a photography and essay book on Vermont Gathering Places. The book includes over one hundred images of gathering places in communities around Vermont, including village stores, post offices, local restaurants, libraries, churches, art centers, community halls and Main Streets. The subject of this book is a great fit for Preservation Trust of Vermont, since many of these places have been directly supported over the years with the Field Service Program, Sincerbeaux Grants, Village Store Program and the Preservation Grants. Mr. Miller will be present all afternoon for a book signing of Gathering Places; his other books, Vermont People and Vermont Farm Women will be available.

Quest: 1-5 P.M.
Steve Glazer from Valley Quest has created as special event for the afternoon, a quest. .What's a Quest? A Quest is an educational treasure hunt. Out on this Quest, you will wander around the Preservation Trust's Celebration at Shelburne Farms, searching for historical words (and phrases) that solve a puzzle -- and lead you to the location of a hidden Quest "treasure." Come out to learn while you look and read carefully, following clues and earning letters to solve this one-day only "walk through" crossword puzzle! A perfect activity for both the young and young-at-heart!

Roger Kennedy, National Park Service, Guest Speaker: 3 P.M.
As the fourteenth Director of the National Park Service, appointed by President Clinton, Roger Kennedy led the Service through its first comprehensive restructuring since World War II; gave heightened emphasis to public education as a primary function of the Service; championed wilderness and ecosystem management of parks while stressing that all parks are cultural at their roots; successfully battled against efforts to dismantle the System; forged new, lasting partnerships with the private sector in support of the parks; and upheld and renewed the Administration's commitment to enhance the careers of the professionals of the Service.

Music: 1:30-5:00 P.M.
Amidst all this activity there will be great food vendors and musicians. So take a break from the quest and talking with the over two hundred exhibitors. Pick up a snack and sit and listen to musicians. Vermont Native Daughters, Deb Flanders and Michele Choiniere unite Franco-American and Anglo-American Vermont traditional song and music traditions. They will be performing between 1:30-2:45. The Nips will also be performing; The NIPS is not so much a "what" as a "who." They are a group of friends that get together weekly for a potluck dinner and contra dance music jam session. Music played at NIPS sessions encompasses the vast body of dance music which has become popular in today's contra dance movement. The Nips will be performing from 3:30- 5PM

"This is a great event to bring the whole family to and spend an hour or the afternoon, participate in a quest, designed specifically for this celebration, meet authors, have some lunch and listen to some first-rate musicians perform in a spectacular setting. You will be impressed by the range of projects that Preservation has been involved with over the years." Robert McBride, Board member.
